Color Talks - RED!

Every color holds a specific energy, emotion, and powerful meaning that communicates to us in so many ways. In last week's email, I mentioned that we could incorporate the healing energy of color in many ways:

  • Meditating and visualizing colors
  • Eating/Drinking specific colors
  • Wearing specific colors
  • Surrounding yourself with colors
  • Spending time in nature's colors
  • Drawing/painting/being creative with colors

When I paint with a specific color, it's because I am intuiting that color's meaning, energy, purpose, and, most importantly, healing into the painting!

So let's dive into the healing energy of RED!

While colors may have different meanings for different cultures, when many folks think about the color red, they may believe about traditional holidays like Valentine's day and Christmas or sentiments like love, passion, and romance. Red is an attention-getting color associated with not-so-happy emotions such as anger, frustration, and danger. Red is also a stimulating color, and many people find it motivating. The color red can be incredibly healing to the body when worn if you're not feeling well—giving a presentation? You may want to wear red as it invokes power and courage.

Red is the Root Chakra color and sits at the base of our spines. This first Chakra is responsible for our sense of safety and security. The Root Chakra encompasses everything we need as our basic needs, such as food, water, shelter, and safety, as well as more emotional needs, such as letting go of fear. When these needs are met, you feel grounded and safe and tend to worry less daily. You may feel 'safe.'

When we wear this color or put it in our homes, it begins to minister to our needs. And in this way, it provides healing to our energetic selves! You may be attracting more red into your life if you're looking for a new job, are going through a divorce, are working through an illness, or generally want to feel grounded, rooted, safe, and secure.

If you're avoiding red, there may be a particular issue in the Root Chakra that you're actively avoiding dealing with. And that's OK - color flows in and out of our lives at various stages. I'll share more about my own color story when we get to the color yellow!

We can create more of the energy that color conveys by activating that color in our lives. Want to create a sense of stability, security, energy, and productivity? Try adding some more red to your life this week! What do you want to create more of?
